His Excellency 
Prof.  Abdullah Omar Bahussain Bafail
Professor of Industrial Engineering

His excellency was born in Meca, Saudi Arabia, in 1956. Prof. Abdullah Bafail has earned his Ph.D. degree from Arizona State University in 1989 from the Department of Industrial Engineering, his M.S. degree from the University of Southern California in 1982, and his B.S. degree from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals in 1979. He acquired different skills and knowledge that contributed to his career path. Prof. Bafail has vast experience in leadership and administration. His excellency had the honor to serve in the Two Holy Mosques' country through several administrative positions and the most recent of which was the president of Umm Al-Qura University in Meca. He also held several administrative positions at King Abdulaziz University, such as Vice President for Business and Knowledge Creativity, Vice President for Projects, and Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. His excellency has sold management experiences as his excellency was a Vice President for several presidencies for 14 years, as a Dean of Engineering Department for 2 years, and as Chairman of the Department of Industrial Engineering for 8 years. His outstanding contribution enabled him to bag awards and recognition. He recently received the best leadership leader award for the year 2020 from Leadership Management International (LMI). 

Apart from leadership and management, His excellency also contributed to policy formulation and academic studies. He has published more than 30 research papers related to engineering education and academic accreditation. He also has more than 50 published papers in international and local journals and participated in many international conferences. His excellency participated in constructing and implementing strategic planning for several public and private organizations. His excellency was a member of many committees, most notably the Institute of Industrial Engineering (IIE), Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), The International Institute of Forecasters (IIF), Production and Operations Management (POM), and International Association of Business Forecasting (IABF). As a member of these committees, he participated in developing policies and plans for effective service delivery.
